Published Opinion
Colgate v. JUUL Labs, Inc., 402 F. Supp. 3d 728 (N.D. Cal. 2019)
This precedent-setting opinion allowed critical claims to proceed against JUUL based on its marketing tactics and nicotine design. The court recognized the plausibility of targeting youth with addictive formulations and dismissed JUUL’s attempt to compel arbitration.

Esfand began his career at a leading national defense firm, where he was part of a trial team that secured a $125 million settlement in antitrust and false advertising litigation. He later focused exclusively on representing plaintiffs in consumer protection and product liability class actions on both coasts.
